Stemhead Fittings & Jibstay Plates
Stemhead Fittings are (by definition) used at the Stem (the maximum forward end) of the boat, to attach the Headstay or Forestay and usually, the Jib Tack. Some Stemhead Fittings bolt through the Bow, also serving to fasten the Hull to the Deck. Jibstay Plates are attached to the Deck aft of the Stem and are used to attach the Forestay and the Jib Tack, they are commonly used on fractional rigged boats. Stemhead/Jibstay Plates that Bolt to the Deck Stemhead/Jibstay Plates are bolted or screwed to the Deck, either at the Stem or further aft, and have holes for attachment of the Forestay and the Jib Tack.
Deck-mounted Stemhead/Jibstay Plates for a 1/4" Pin
*Light-duty Stemhead/Jibstay Plate: Sch 79-01X:* Stainless Steel Stemhead/Jibstay Plate bolts flat to Deck. Lightweight unit has 1/4" hole for attachment of Forestay, and 5/16" hole aft for Jib Tack. Stemhead bolts to Deck with (2) 1/4" (6mm) screws on 1 7/8" (fore & aft) centers. Welded SS Stemhead is 2 1/2" long x 3/4" wide x 3/4" high. As used on O'Day Widgeon, Javelin, and Daysailer.
*Large Stemhead/Jibstay Plate: Sch 79-11X:* Stainless Steel Stemhead/Jibstay Plate bolts to slightly crowned Deck. Unit has 1/4" hole for attachment of Forestay, and (2) large 7/16" holes aft for Jib Tacks. Trapezoidal Stemhead Plate bolts to Deck with (4) 1/4" (6mm) FH screws on 2 1/8" (forward holes) and 4 3/4" (aft holes) centers. Welded SS Stemhead is (maximum) 3 1/2" long x 2 3/4" wide (forward side), 6 1/8" wide (aft side) x (maximum) 7/8" high with 3/32" thick base and 1/8" upright.

Deck-mounted Stemhead/Jibstay Plates for a 5/16" Pin
*Stemhead/Jibstay Plate for 5/16" Pin: Ken K-1025:* Stainless Steel Stemhead/Jibstay Plate bolts flat to Deck. Unit has 5/16" hole for attachment of Forestay, and large ferruled hole (9/16" dia.) for Jib Tack. Welded Jibstay Plate is 2 1/2" long x 1 1/4" wide x (maximum) 1 1/16" high and bolts to Deck with (4) 3/16" (#10) screws on 1 7/8" (fore & aft) and 3/4" (athwartships) centers.
*Stemhead/Jibstay Plate for 5/16" Pins: Ken K-1077:* Stainless Steel Stemhead/Jibstay Plate bolts flat to Deck. Unit has (2) 5/16" holes for attachment of Forestay, and large ferruled hole (9/16" dia.) for Jib Tack. Welded Jibstay Plate is 2 1/2" long x 1 1/4" wide x (maximum) 1 1/16" high and bolts to Deck with (4) 3/16" (#10) screws on 1 7/8" (fore & aft) and 3/4" (athwartships) centers. *Heavy-duty Stemhead/Jibstay Plate for 5/16" Pin: Sch 79-02X:* Stainless Steel Stemhead/Jibstay Plate bolts flat to Deck. Unit has 5/16" hole for attachment of Forestay, and large 1/2" hole aft for Jib Tack. Stemhead bolts to Deck with (3) 1/4" (6mm) FH screws on 2" (fore & aft) and 1 1/8" (athwartships) centers. Welded SS Stemhead is (maximum) 3 1/4" long x 2" wide x (maximum) 1" high with 1/8" thick base and 3/16" upright. As used on Soling.

Stemhead Fittings Stemhead Fittings are normally bolted or screwed to the Deck and through the Bow, and have holes for attachment of the Forestay and the Jib Tack.
Stemheads for a 3/16" Pin
*Stemhead Fitting for 3/16" Pin w/ 2 Sheaves: PP 79-15S:* Stainless Steel Stemhead Fitting has a 3/16" hole for attachment of Forestay, and (2) 1" OD removable sheaves (fore & aft) for below deck control lines (up to 1/4") for Jib Tack and Cunningham. Stemhead screws to Deck with (3) #8 (5/32") screws, and through Bow with (1) #8 screw and (1) 3/8" bolt. Unit requires a Bow slot 2" long x 1/2" wide x 1 3/4" deep to accommodate integral sheave box. Welded SS Stemhead is (maximum) 1 1/8" wide x 2 1/2" long (on Deck), and extends a total of 5 1/2" down and aft. Designed for a bow with a 65� entry and a 1" vertical nose, unit can be bent to suit other variations. sc

Unit bolts to Deck with (1) 1/4" FH screw, and through Bow with (4) 1/4" FH screws. Bow strap is 1 1/4" wide x 1/8" thick and is 6" long on Deck. Strap extends 2" down (in line w/ Forestay), is 1 1/2" vertical at Bow, and extends 6 1/2" down the Bow below lower bend. As used on O'Day, Pearson.

Stemheads for a 5/16" Pin
*Stemhead Fitting for 5/16" Pin: Sch 79-23X:* Stainless Steel Stemhead fitting has 5/16" hole for attachment of Forestay and 1/2" hole for Tack attachment. Unit bolts to Deck with (1) 1/4" FH screw, and through Bow with (3) 1/4" FH screws. Bow strap is 1" wide x 1/8" thick and is 3" long on Deck, Tapered Bow strap extends 5 1/2" down the Bow at 78�. Stemheads for a 3/8" Pin
*Stemhead Fitting for 3/8" Pin: RR 79-29:* Stainless Steel Stemhead fitting has 3/8" hole for attachment of Forestay and a 1/2" hole for Tack attachment. Unit bolts to Deck with (1) 1/4" RH screw, and through Bow with (4) 1/4" RH screws on 1 1/2" centers. Bow strap is 1 1/4" wide x 1/8" thick and is 4" long on Deck, 2" flat at Bow, and extends 6" down the Bow below lower bend. Unit bolts to Deck with (2) 1/4" RH screws on 1 1/4" centers, and through Bow with (3) 1/4" FH screws on 2 1/2" centers. *Stemhead Fitting for 3/8" Pin w/ Reef Hooks: RR 79-J/30:* Stainless Steel Stemhead fitting has 3/8" hole for attachment of Forestay, 5/8" hole for Jib Tack, and (2) 1/2" Reef Hooks. Unit bolts to Deck with (4) 5/16" RH screws, and to bow with (3) 3/8" RH screws. Deck Plate is 7" long x 2 1/2" wide, Bow strap is 1 1/4" wide x 1/4" thick, and extends 11" down the bow at 63�. *Cast Bronze Stemhead Fitting for 3/8" Pin: PP 79-Triton:* Cast Bronze Stemhead fitting with Satin chrome plated finish. bolts to Deck (at angle) with (1) 3/8" FH screw, and to bow with (3) 3/8" FH screws. Unit has 3/8" hole for attachment of Forestay, and 3/8" hole for Jib Tack. Cast Stemhead is (maximum) 9 1/4" long x 2 3/8" wide (on deck), Bow strap is 1 1/2" wide x (maximum) 9/16" thick, and extends 12" down the bow at 55�. As used on Pearson Triton.

Stemheads for Bowsprits Traditional Cast Bronze Bowsprit-mounted Stemhead Fittings are bolted through the Bowsprit with an underside Bronze Backing Plate. Upper side has holes for attachment of the Forestay and the Jib Tack, Lower end has hole for attachment of Bobstay Clevis Pin.
